Going "Home"

The last few days have been passing by in a blur. It feels like we've been going non-stop since I arrived. Questions or doubts that I've had in my head have vanished in regards to my Korean family ,and who I am is being confirmed every single day.
We have compared hands, feet, and skin color and I can especially see traits in my omma that she has passed to me. I know I will miss it when I leave.
One of the main ways that my parents are showing their LOVE for me is an endless stream of food. Whether it's the scrumptious meals omma is making or the endless snacks that they keep giving me.

The language barrier is a challenge. But, everyone is doing their part to try to understand each other. Tomorrow we will have a translated meeting, so hopefully the important questions and statements will be expressed.

I have always had difficulty with good byes and it's going to be very hard leaving even though my heart is in Texas.   So, I push that to the back of my mind and plan to enjoy each day to the fullest while I'm here.

13 days and counting

In 13 days,  I will be about 2 hours away

from landing at Incheon Airport, in Seoul,

Korea.

I will almost "be home".

This year has passed by so incredibly

fast. It seems like I could hardly catch my

breath. But sometime during

this year, I knew that I would need to

return to Seoul, sooner rather than later.

Thankfully, Matt recognized this and said

 that I could go back.

Originally, I thought that I would be able

to return to Korea taking Gavin with me.

But, for many reasons, it

is too soon. I know there are some

special people who would really love to

see him, but he needs just a little

bit more time before he can make a trip

back.

So, here I am dusting off the blog...there

have been so many times this year when

 I wanted to post

something, but then I would just find

myself staring at the screen...

I am so thankful to have such a

supportive husband. I wouldn't have

made it through the year without him.  I

am saving a gushy, schoomzy post

about that in a week or two.

I also wouldn't have "survived" the year

without some amazing friends, in

particular my friend who sent me

the "Travel Survivor Kit". She really

helped me get through some really rough

 patches.

So here we go, 8 days of school to go,

and then as my dad used to say "Great

silver bird (in this case a light

blue or aqua) come and take me away."

:-)

I've tried to write a blog post more than once over the past month....actually over the past year I've made a feeble attempt...I usually end up just staring at the screen with a zillion thoughts zooming through my head.

Yesterday we celebrated our Family's one year anniversary. It's hard to believe that we have had the privilege to be his parents for one year. Depending on the situation sometimes it feels like he's been with us forever, and sometimes we still feel like "brand new parents", which we are. The one thing we know for certain is how much we love him!

A List of 12 things from the past year....ta da!

1. LOVES Korean food....need to learn how to make more recipes!
2. LOVEs Pororo
3. Refers to self as Gavin or Minseo...love it!
4. LOVEs Korean food, and is willing to try anything.
5. Beautiful smile!
6. Laughter that rings through the air.
7. His teacher says he likes to be chased by older girls...oh my!
8. Month 11-Copies words without prompting, Speaks in some sentences
9. Month 11- Sleeps in his room
10. Still hates naps when he's at home
11. Loves to play in the water
12. Loves school
